Key Career Trait 45: THE EXECUTIVE

This chief executive energy positions you as a natural authority with the purpose of protecting your team's financial and human resources by managing them efficiently. It has an aura of influence and accepted leadership that provides education and training to your team or company, so it can remain relevant and competitive. This energy is the natural voice of the group and it says “we have” or “we don’t have”.  As the corporate cultural leader, you are concerned about and responsible for realizing the mission and vision of the organization, ensuring the productivity of the team and financial success of the organization by being the best among your competitors.

You have the ability to bring people together around a common goal and show them the direction they need for success. Your skill in recognizing large connections helps you align the team with the most important tasks. When it comes to using resources efficiently, you always find the best ways to get the most out of each project. You know how to delegate tasks so that each team member can contribute their strengths fully. It is important to you to share knowledge and ensure that everyone continues to learn and grow. Through this support, the entire team becomes more capable and can continuously work toward a shared goal.

Your leadership skills are particularly evident when you maintain structure and oversight over a project. You immediately recognize where there is potential for improvement and how to allocate resources to make success achievable quickly. Your strategic thinking helps you manage workload and ensure that no one is overwhelmed. At the same time, you find the right balance between work and rest to ensure sustainable performance. You succeed in clearly communicating your vision and motivating the team to work together toward that goal. In this way, you create a work environment where everyone approaches the task with full energy and motivation.

It is important to wait for the right moment to take the lead and share your knowledge with the team. You are good at recognizing the right moments when your support and leadership are needed. Pushing to take control too early could disrupt the natural flow of collaboration. Patience and timing are therefore key to leading the team to productive cooperation. Your ability to wait for the right moment makes you a respected leader whose words and actions have the right impact. By focusing on the moment when your leadership is most effective, you can ensure that everyone is ready to follow your example.

This career trait is a type of leadership that is a two-way street where support is a give and receive scenario. As the proverbial chief executive officer, you will be compensated well as long as you have the support of the workforce by following and aligning with the policies and procedures. The key aspects here are support and continuity. It's critical to success of the company to keep the support coming in and continuous improvements.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

Have awareness of the fact every employee has their own personal preference for the style of leadership they will align with. So, although you will not be for everyone you will be for someone. So it's best to just be your authentic self so that those who will naturally align with you can find you. Your body language signals rulership and requires firm alignment with your leadership as you strategize to support everyone on the team and foster a strong bond within the organization. This is experienced as an entitled leadership not an elected leadership, more akin to monarchy than democracy. Here are six stages to develop your executive presence holistically:

STAGE 1: GATHERING – Attracting of like-minded professionals for a mutually beneficial foundation. The more you have inner clarity and alignment, the more you will be able to educate and draw in the uncommitted to form a unified group sensing that you are better together with everyone playing their part.

STAGE 2: CONSENSUS – This is where your team’s bond is strengthened by acknowledging the common interest of achieving the organization’s mission. You trust the guidance from your advisors and SMEs that you’ve attracted via alignment with your leadership style.

STAGE 3: EXCLUSION – It takes time and trial and error to become an effective, influential leader. When you face exclusion trying to dissolve old ways of operating, you may find that you’ll instinctively accept temporary humiliation to ensure your management style is accepted and included as a vital part of the success equation.

STAGE 4: DIRECTION – Here you express and lead with higher principles to achieve the mission of the team. You are always looking to move the team toward a place where everyone benefits, but know to wait for the correct timing and best opportunity.

STAGE 5: GOVERNANCE – Impactful delegation requires finesse and self-awareness. Being aware that you are here to delegate (be) and not do will naturally win the confidence of others based on your virtuous, innovative and practical approach.

STAGE 6: INCLUSION – Slow and steady change is usually better received as employees are not against evolution, they are opposed to confusion, however. No longer an outsider, you can accept that any prior rejection of your initiatives were in error. You don’t take them personally and are ready to lead having earned the loyalty as the royal leader.
