Trait 11: Ideas - Professional Development Key of the Week

Updated: Feb 4

This week I bring you attention to ability to generate innovation and prepare for the future by assessing the past. You have a curiosity that causes you to seek out a pathway to peace and harmony for the team. There is an enjoyment in seeing stimulating things in your work environment and you enjoy stimulating others by sharing your ideas when invited to do so. In full self-awareness, you know that it’s best to hold your peace until the right time, when the right person comes along and offers you a ‘penny for your thoughts’.

This trait is designed to be used as a seeker, not a finder or solver. This is dynamic, abstract right-brain energy, not the fact finding, logical left-brain energy. Stay fresh, stay curious, this energy is to be enjoyed for the ride, not necessarily to focus on the destination. The ideas you share are not necessarily meant for action.  Here lies a natural visionary, seeing the potentials and possibilities that can be achieved as team. You thrive in positions or on projects where you can influence others with your creative idealism.

Trait 11 helps the team to dream new dreams. The trick is to not let your mind become fixated and lock you into a specific course of action to realize your ideation. Believe in yourself, believe in the vision for your business but give it freedom to breathe and come into form as it may, not how you think it should.  Allow the images you see in your mind to flow like a river moving from the past to the future. Once the floodgates of your ideas are open, all you need to do is ride the wave with an open and growth mindset providing some type of structure the ideas to germinate in.

The future is right-brained and with this trait, the world is filled with possibilities for you to play with and swirl around in your mind. Just like there is a left and right brain, there are two sides to every trait. The challenges with this trait include over fantasizing or experiencing a deluded reality due to idea overload. You’ll want to ensure you have proper tools to process your inspiration and manage your ideas in a healthy manner such as a journal or working on a team or project where you ideas can flow and be expressed.

The first and most effective step to take to inspires those who look to you for ideas is to look at yourself. Self-reflection allows you assess what you value and and your leverage both your strength and weaknesses, which I believe are one and the same with different applications.
