Key Career Trait 3: THE INNOVATOR

Ever felt like a professional chaos coordinator? I’ve seen that on a t-shirt and thought, wow, that’s so relatable. Career Trait 3 is the ability to bring things into order, transforming abstract concepts into logical reality. This is all about the materialization process, of innovation, taking lemons and making a lemonade stand. Those with this skill are often pioneers in their fields, disrupting established norms and pushing boundaries all for the sake of empowered evolution.

We have witnessed many innovations that have contributed to our evolution such as the internet you are reading this blog on and the computer or cell phone you are using to do so.  If trait 3 of innovation is a natural skill activated anywhere in your energetic blueprint chart, especially at the top left column, you are here to bring about change to or in your work environment. I had to check on my hunch, and yes, it turns out Steve Jobs did have Trait 3 as a natural skill active in his blueprint design.


This is the energy of a Change Manager, the natural ability to see that something new and improved is possible, transformation. Career Trait 42 speaks more to a traditional Project Manager ensuring the project is completed on time while Trait 3 is the innovative spark leading innovative actions clearing the way ensuring that progress sprouts through the difficult beginning phase of a process or project. It says, ‘Hmmm, I’m suddenly inspired to develop a new approach or product, care to join me?!’ Innovation is a build as you go with blind faith type of energy which can be chaotic and unpredictable so there can be a level of discomfort amongst the team. Embracing uncertainty is an important part of the innovative journey.

You contribute to the company by creating clear structures and integrating them effectively. You have the fortitude to analyze and design processes in a manner that can produce sustainability. Your team looks to you to know what is feasible and what is not to stabilize them during turbulent times while this new thing is taking off and reinforce direction and collaboration from key stakeholders and sponsors. As an innovator, you face and graciously accept the growing pains and approach challenges by breaking them into steps that are achievable and adoptable by everyone on the team.


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:


Keep an open mind and heart so that you can transform frustration and doubt from others into creative energy. Trust yourself and your understanding of the nature of change to demonstrate that productive outcomes can arise from the chaos and confusion of new beginnings. When you are off track and not on you’re A-game, others can experience you as anal or disordered which both stem from fear, lack of self-assurance and trying to control every aspect.


Ask yourself:

  • Do I fully understand that setbacks and failure are an integral part of a successful innovative journey?

  • How can I best be brave, playful, take risks and celebrate small wins to keep myself motivated?
